The Piedmont Region and "Roots Tourism"

On the Piedmont Region’s YouTube channel, there are 5 promotional videos dedicated to Roots Tourism: “Your roots await you, experience Piedmont!” Each video lasts just over 6 minutes and is available in Italian, with subtitles in French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The initiative is promoted by the Regional Department for Emigration and coordinated by the International Relations and Cooperation Sector, targeting Piedmontese expatriates worldwide: “We know that many of you, having Piedmont in your hearts, have had and still have the desire to feel close to our region and your origins, and to promote Piedmont within the communities where you live, to make its beauty and excellence appreciated by those who have not yet had the opportunity to experience them directly, whether due to personal history or simply for tourism. We have therefore decided to create promotional videos. They are designed specifically for you and your associations and can be freely downloaded and distributed, even on occasions of events, demonstrations, or days that you organize or participate in. We sincerely hope that you will appreciate this initiative, as we also hope that our relationships will grow stronger and that, through your valuable help, our region will be increasingly known and appreciated even outside Italy.”

The initiative is part of the broader framework of actions undertaken by the Piedmont Region to promote “Roots Tourism,” also in anticipation of 2024 as the “Year of Italian Roots.”
