Summer 2025 in Cabella Ligure: Between Roots, Culture and Traditions in the "Four Provinces"

Cabella Ligure is preparing to experience a summer 2025 full of events, in the heart of the “Four Provinces” (Alessandria in Piedmont, Genoa in Liguria, Pavia in Lombardy and Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna). This area is a cultural and ethnomusicological crossroads, where common musical, linguistic and gastronomic traditions are handed down.

The Festival “Women on this side and on the other side of the sea”: A Tribute to Roots and Female Emigration

From 25 to 27 July 2025, Cabella Ligure will host the third edition of the Festival on emigrationThirty days of steamship“, dedicated to Carlo Repetti. This year, the festival emphasizes the pioneering role of women in historical and contemporary migrations with the title “Women on this side and beyond the sea“.

The Festival will begin on Friday 25 July at 4:30 pm at the Town Hall, with speeches by the Mayor Roberta Daglio and scientific partners. This will be followed by the presentation of the book “The last bison” by journalist Annalisa Camilli, a guided tour of the Documentary Center on Emigration (CDE) and an aperitif with typical products. The evening will end with the theatrical show “Artemisia, Caterina, Hypatia and the others…” by Consuelo Barilari, with Laura Curino, at the Palavittoria.

On Saturday 26 July, the Festival will join the traditional Festa sull’Aia in Cosola, with itinerant narratives. In the afternoon, at the Palavittoria, the round table “Female migrations” will be held with experts in the field. The day will continue with the screening of the film “Napoli New York” by Gabriele Salvatores.

Sunday 27 July will be dedicated to women’s business, with the “Women’s Market” in the Public Gardens, where local artisans, farmers and producers will be present. At 11:00 a.m., the meeting “Roots, feminine, plural” will give voice to stories of women entrepreneurs. This will be followed by the presentation of the new De.Co. of Cabella Ligure and a lunch by the La Tula Agricultural Cooperative . In the afternoon, there will be double book presentations, including “La memoria ritrovata” by Paolo Giardelli. The final evening will see the show “From mother to mother” by the Compagnia del Suq Genova staged at the Palavittoria, with a final tribute to Carlo Repetti. All festival events are free of charge.

Other Events of the Cabellese Summer 2025:

In addition to the Festival, the summer of Cabella Ligure will be animated by numerous events:

  • Markets: The “Women’s Market” will be held on July 27 at the Gardens of Piazza Vittoria. The traditional “Handicrafts, Antiques and Hobby Market” is also back on Sunday 3 August.

  • Festivals and Traditions: The “Country Festival” will animate the Aie di Cosola on Saturday 2 August. On Saturday 9 August, the celebrations for San Lorenzo will include a fried dumpling festival, music, DJ sets and a fireworks display. On the day of Ferragosto (August 15) there will be a big barbecue in Piuzzo and the concert “The Legends of Rock”. The “End of Summer Party” will close the season on Saturday 30 August in Cabella with barbecues, music and outdoor dancing.

  • Music and Food and Wine: “Caruggi in Canto”, a musical and food and wine journey, will take place on August 13 in the historic center. On Sunday 17 August, the “Mangialonga” will be held, a food and wine walk with typical dishes.

  • Culture: A meeting with the author Maurizio Carucci, accompanied by the Alta Val Borbera Choir, is scheduled for August 16th.
