The experience
The beauty of these territories can make it difficult to think how it was once not easy to live there. Yet, many Piedmontese left these lands and villages between 1800 and 1900 in search of a better life.
You will discover, in an atmosphere made fairytale by the magic of the snow, the paths that your ancestors traveled leaving their homes.
A hiking guide will accompany you to discover the alpine environment and old mountain villages.
With boots or snowshoes on your feet, depending on the weather conditions, or with cross-country skis or mountaineering skis, depending on your preparation and preference, you will travel through some wonderful valleys of Piedmont, encountering breathtaking views and discovering interesting historical and cultural elements. You will see the places from which many Piedmontese left between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, along the paths that they themselves traveled leaving their homes of origin: from Cuneo to Val Chisone, from Valle di Susa to Verbano Cusio Ossola, including the renowned and famous ski resort of Sestriere.
Recommended period: approximately from December to March (depending on weather conditions and level of snow).
