Since 1808 the Carnival of Ivrea has renewed all its appointments year after year: it is the oldest
Historical Italian Carnival and is a celebration of the whole city.
In December of the previous year, the enlistment of the General Staff and the Citizen ended
the representative of the Foundation of the Historic Carnival of Ivrea and the
Substitute of the Grand Chancellor announce the names of the four white breeches, of the 26 officers
of honour, of the six first-time officers, of the 4 vivandières and of the aides-de-camp.
On the day of the Epiphany, Pipes and Drums in Piazza di Città will seal with the opening march,
the beginning of the event that between ‘beans’, banquets and parades will reach, as every year, at the
Days of the Battle of the Oranges
The most anticipated days of the event for the 2024 edition are in fact 10, 11, 12 and 13 February.
On Saturday 10th there is the presentation of the Vezzosa Mugnaia from the external loggia of the Town Hall and a
follow the march of the historical procession with the goliardic torchlight procession and the parade of the teams of the
oranges.
The battle of the oranges, the most eagerly awaited moment of the event, is on Sunday, February 11
2024. The nine Teams on foot bring to life the Battle of the Oranges with the shooters on the Pairs and
on the four-way shots divided into two routes: internal (Piazza Ottinetti and Piazza di Città) and external
(Borghetto, Piazza del Rondolino passing through Lungo Dora and Piazza Freguglia).
The same will also take place on Monday and Tuesday, the day on which the award ceremony will take place
of the orange groves and the throwing floats in Piazza di Città.
From Friday 15 December, the nineteenth-century golden chariot, one of the most cherished symbols of the Carnival
to the people of Ivrea, it is once again on display in the entrance hall of the Town Hall of Ivrea while waiting
of the 2024 edition of the event. In use since 1858, the Vezzosa chariot
Miller is a real piece of Carnival history that year after year, thanks to the
contribution of the organizers and the Components, has been kept in use and
subjected to meticulous care to preserve intact its workmanship and magnificence.

Ivrea is connected by the Turin-Aosta railway line. To reach Ivrea from Aosta: Aosta-Turin line, Ivrea station From Milan: Milan-Turin line, change at Chivasso and Turin-Aosta line, stop at Ivrea station From Alessandria: Genoa-Turin line with change at Turin Porta Nuova; Turin-Aosta line and Ivrea station stop From Turin: Turin-Aosta line and Ivrea station stop It is possible to take the train in the direction of Ivrea from both Turin Porta Nuova and Turin Porta Susa stations to reach Ivrea station after about an hour's journey.
