Today, Omegna is recognized as “the town of nursery rhymes” thanks to the “Gianni Rodari” Fantasy Park, where dreams turn into reality for both adults and children. Exploring the historic center, you will find yourself strolling through lively streets, elegant palaces and charming churches, immersing yourself in an atmosphere rich in history and creativity.
The village of Pella contributed to the economic development of the area. The specialization in the production of taps and fittings followed the craftsmanship related to the processing of hemp. The memory of the stonemasons, masters of granite, is highlighted by the Monument to the Stonemasons and the path that leads to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso. Local traditions emerge through the canopy-washhouse, used by women to wash clothes and store water from the Pellino during bad weather. The former Sonzogno paper mill, now a home, played a crucial role in the production of paper for an important publishing house in Milan and was later converted into a steel industry related to the Ferrari engineer’s luggage, employing one hundred workers who also guaranteed the operation of the dynamos for the lighting of the plant and the town. The Sonzogno company represents a significant piece of local history, reflecting the connection between industrial production, publishing culture and infrastructure of the past.
