The sweet black truffle of Montemale

The experience

Meeting with the guide and walk around the Castle of Montemale, a small town in the Grana Valley and meeting with a truffle grower and his faithful animal for the search for the precious tuber in the truffle grounds.

Lunch in a restaurant with local products.

In the afternoon, transfer to San Pietro di Monterosso Grana and visit to the Terra del Castelmagno Museum and walk in the Timeless Village, inhabited by the babaciu, life-size puppets in hay and wood able to tell and tell themselves to visitors through Gino’s Stick.

The experience can be enjoyed from 1 December to 31 March.

Throughout the day you will be accompanied by specialized ecomuseum staff.

The sweet black truffle of Montemale: the Grana Valley and in particular the Montemale area have the ideal soils and the necessary conditions for the growth of the sweet black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) thanks to the presence of plants such as the black hornbeam, the hazelnut and the downy oak that make this product unique throughout the Alps.

It has been discovered that the sweet black truffle has much more versatility than the white truffle in the kitchen: it can be combined with appetizers, first courses, combined with “earthy flavors” such as artichoke, potato or tupinambur, egg up to dessert
