We thank the French newspaper Nos Alpes, in particular the journalist Enrico Martial, for the article that gave visibility to the Italea project and splendidly highlighted the role of Piedmont in this initiative. The narration of our territory is thus enriched with a new dimension, that of roots, which combines personal history and the rediscovery of places full of charm and memory.
Thanks to the intense and fruitful collaboration between the various local realities of Piedmont and the Italea Piemonte project, we are presenting to the “roots tourists” a unique offer, which enhances the places of origin of emigrants and their stories. The routes we propose are not simple tourist itineraries, but real emotional journeys that bring the past back to life.
Piedmontese excellence at the center of the project
The Nos Alpes article was able to capture the essence of this collaboration, mentioning some of the places we are promoting with particular enthusiasm:
-
Montemale and the Grana Valley: In the province of Cuneo, the rediscovery of roots is combined with taste. Here visitors can savor the sweetness of the black truffle of Montemale and the unique flavor of Castelmagno PDO cheese, connecting to the territory through the food and wine experience.
-
The Stura di Demonte Valley: This border area, also in the Cuneo area, becomes the protagonist of an itinerary that highlights a strong cross-border cultural identity. A place that has seen many emigrants leave and that today welcomes their descendants.
-
The Museum of Migrations in Pettinengo: In the province of Biella, this museum represents a fundamental point of reference. His testimonies and archives offer a tangible context to understand the collective history of Piedmontese emigration, helping to recompose the mosaic of family histories.
-
The rice fields between Novara and Vercelli: An iconic landscape of Piedmont, telling a story of hard work and internal migration, offering an additional opportunity to connect with the region’s rural roots.
The Italea Piemonte project works to enhance these places and their stories, transforming the journey into a real search for oneself, made possible thanks to the synergy between institutions, associations and local communities.
