The Museum of the Emigration of the Piedmontese in the World has reopened in Frossasco (Turin)!
Active since 2006, the Museum has been an opportunity since its inception to tell the dreams, adventures, challenges of hundreds of thousands of Piedmontese who left their homeland in search of fortune.
Now, thanks to the restyling project carried out by the Turin Museums Foundation and coordinated by Davide Rosso, made possible thanks to the contribution of the ministry and numerous bodies and foundations, as well as the Municipality of Frossasco.
The Museum now presents itself with a contemporary look, including maps and graphs, photographs, objects and videos that tell anecdotes about dialects.
“It is important to participate in events like these to show the support that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gives to all those realities that are committed to enhancing the history of Italian emigration, which is one of the greatest pages of our history,” said Giovanni Maria De Vita, head of the Italea Project, speaking at the inauguration of the Museum.
Present were: the Councillor for Emigration of the Piedmont Region, Maurizio Marrone, the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Piedmont Region, Claudia Porchietto, the President of the Regional Council Davide Nicco, the Head of the Roots Tourism Project at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Giovanni Maria De Vita, the Mayor of Frossasco, Marco Gaido, the President of the Association of Piedmontese in the World, Michele Colombino, the president of the Museum Management Committee, Ugo Bertello, and the members of the committee, Alessandra Maritano, Davide Rosso and Marco Civra, and the vice president of the CRT Foundation, Paola Casagrande.
