The experience
Barbera, Bonarda, Freisa, Dolcetto: these are the main wines produced by small and well-kept wineries in the hilly and mountainous Pinerolo area. In the thirteenth century the Savoy princes Acaja owned vineyards here and in the nineteenth century there were more than 600 varieties of grapes. Accompanied by a guide along a stretch of the ScopriCollina route, you will meet this world and learn about traditional processes, now also attentive to eco-sustainability, and you will listen to stories and legends related to wine and its culture.
You will be welcomed at a farm, you will walk among the rows and along a part of the ScopriCollina ring route, listening and chatting with the guide about agricultural traditions, the history that has seen this territory be French for over 100 years and the ancient legends that accompany these places.
The Pinerolo area has a long tradition of wine production, which in the nineteenth century suffered a setback due to the arrival of some diseases and industrialization, which called many farmers to work at the new factories in the Turin area. In recent decades, many young winegrowers have resumed the cultivation of old vineyards and are planting new vineyards, bringing production back to high quality levels.
Here you will discover the types of vines grown, the cultivation methods and you will be able to visit a winery and taste the local wine production along with other typical products.
