Italea Piemonte and Scuola Leonardo da Vinci together for Roots Tourism

02 April 2025

2 minutes

Italea Piemonte and the Leonardo da Vinci School in Turin have signed an important agreement to promote roots tourism. The agreement aims to enhance the Italea project, an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, funded by the PNRR and NextGenerationEU, which aims to welcome Italian and Italian-descendant travelers eager to rediscover the places and traditions of their origins.

The collaboration between Italea Piemonte and the Leonardo da Vinci School in Turin will take the form of several actions, including:

  • the creation of cultural exchange initiatives,
  • the encouragement of roots tourism among the students of the school
  • the collection of testimonies on the migration experience.

A concrete example of this synergy is the program “Discovering your origins” of the Leonardo da Vinci School (available at the link: https://www.scuolaleonardo.com/it/corsi-di-italiano/alla-scoperta-delle-tue-origini.html), which fits well with Italea’s objectives, offering a unique opportunity for descendants of Italians to connect with their past through language learning and discovering the territory.

To celebrate the start of this collaboration, a Press Conference will be held on Saturday 5 April at 11:00 a.m. at the headquarters of the Leonardo da Vinci School where the details of the agreement and the next initiatives will be illustrated.

The enthusiasm for the project is already palpable among the students, many of whom have taken action in sharing their roots and traditions. An example is Beatrice, who told and sang Piedmontese songs, strengthening the communication of the initiative.

In addition, the Leonardo da Vinci School in Turin is committed to promoting the Italea Card among its members and to actively collaborating in the communication of common activities and programs.

This agreement represents a significant step to strengthen the link between Italian communities abroad and Piedmont, offering new opportunities for emotional and authentic tourism.
