Piedmont is ready to welcome a unique event that celebrates Italian culture and the beauty of its villages. Orta San Giulio has been chosen as the only Piedmontese stop of the “Dante for the Villages” initiative, promoted by the Dante Alighieri National Society under the patronage of the 2025 Jubilee and in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism. This itinerant project, with the executive production of Movie&Theater, aims to rediscover the Italian territory and to strengthen the link between tourism and culture.

A Hymn to Tradition and the Territory

In an era that seems to live in an eternal present, “Dante for the Villages” reminds us of the fundamental importance of tradition. The initiative aims to recover that invisible thread that unites generations and enhance the cultural “vocation” of our language. Each stop on the tour is an opportunity to celebrate the history and identity of a village, while offering a new perspective on Italy.

The Format of the Event: A Multisensory Experience

The event in Orta San Giulio will follow a very specific format, designed to involve the public at 360 degrees:

Geography Lecture: An introduction to the territory, curated by Prof. Stefania Cerutti, to discover the geographical and poetic peculiarities of the place.

Theatrical Reading from the Divine Comedy: The actor and director Massimiliano Finazzer Flory will interpret some cantos of the Divine Comedy, creating an evocative dialogue between Dante’s poetry and the surrounding landscape.

Food and Wine Experience: A moment of conviviality to savor the authentic flavors of the territory, promoting the supply chain of taste and local excellence.

Roots Tourism and Sustainable Development: The Beating Hearts of the Initiative

Dante per i Borghi” is not only a cultural event, but also an opportunity to promote a more conscious and sustainable tourism. The initiative has several key objectives:

  • Deseasonalization of Tourist Flows: To promote a more balanced distribution of visitors during the year, also enhancing the less crowded periods.
  • Marketing of the Territory: To increase the knowledge and attractiveness of the villages through geography lessons and the narration of their unique stories.
  • Roots Tourism: A particular focus is on “Roots Tourism”, with the aim of inviting the descendants of Italian emigrants to rediscover their origins, attracted by the beauty, tradition and landscape of the places of their ancestors.
  • Protection and Promotion of Villages: Enhancing the cultural and landscape heritage of the villages, preserving their authenticity and promoting their sustainable development.

The event is free and open to all, an unmissable opportunity to live an unforgettable experience in the name of culture, tradition and discovery of the territory.
