Folk singing is part of the cultural baggage of each of us because it is made up of feelings, memories, “lived” life, stories of our land, our roots, our yesterday and our tomorrow.
The choir “L’ECO” was founded in 1999 thanks to the will of a group of choristers from different choral experiences, eager to maintain and increase popular mountain singing.
The stories that the choir offers you in a simple way, in a full or whispered voice, are part of a repertoire appreciated for its spontaneous vocality. The choir in its activity has taken part in numerous concerts and festivals, in different locations, from Valsesia to Valsessera, from Biella to Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, to the mountain hall in Turin, and has also been invited twice to France and Provence. The direction of the choir is entrusted to Wilmer Baggio, who, given his long choral experience, has paid particular attention to the interpretative aspect. The current staff of the choir is composed of eighteen elements, from the oldest founders to the young “freshmen”, all of whom are proud to belong to the “L’ECO” choir.
It is customary in our Piedmontese Valleys that the choir protagonist of the evening invites a second choir to share the event. This time it will be the CORALE DI CASAPINTA, directed by Bruno Giacomini to twin with the Coro L’ECO di Varallo.
The Choir ,which was initially committed to disseminating popular singing most closely linked to the Alpine tradition, has opened up to other choral traditions and cultures, expanding its repertoire with pieces from various Italian regions and foreign countries as well as with works by contemporary authors; he sings of the daily life of yesterday and today made up of loves, wars, joys, peace, friendship and faith; He sings the dreams of the world firmly believing that the simple and serene voices of a choir know how to reach the intimacy of those who listen to them, making them vibrate with intense emotions.
