THE TRADITIONS OF FOGLIZZO SEEN THROUGH THE CLOTHES OF THE PRIORS

The event in question includes a temporary display of the period clothes of the Foglizzo people in the historic rooms of the Castle of Foglizzo. The event will be created for the first time during the patronal feast of the town (i.e. Santa Maria Maddalena, in July), closely linked to the traditions of the area, but with the aim of repeating it in the various events of the country (for example during the cussot food and wine festival) that follow one another during the year, and in the coming years. The event is aimed at carrying out events in the cultural sites of Foglizzo in order to keep alive the tradition, customs and traditions of the area, to renew the local historical heritage with a strong identity character. In particular, the event includes the temporary preparation of the period clothes of the PRIORI of Foglizzo. Therefore period clothes will be found among the population. In addition, vintage photos and images will be found to be reproduced on the screen in one of the municipal halls. Tourists will have the opportunity to visit the Castle itself, whose rooms are adorned with frescoes and wooden coffered ceilings made in the 1500s, which have recently been restored. The creation of digital content will show the link of the population with the local territory. The Priors are figures designated from year to year by the municipal authority and whose name is revealed by the parish priest during the Holy Mass of the Epiphany. The custom and tradition of the country want the Priors to be two men and two women, accompanied by two girls who are just eighteen years old, representing both districts of Foglizzo, namely San Rocco and Ieri, and that they wear, during the various religious celebrations that they are called to preside, ceremonial clothes, which were once sewn by the seamstresses of the country. The project provides for the possibility of bringing back to life the period clothes, worn by the Priors of the country, from the sixties to today.
